Color Corps Assignments

My fellow Sir Knights,

I do not know how many of our Assembly made it across the border to attend the Canada Day Parade in Windsor Canada July 1st.  Our Assembly has marched in the past in support of our Veteran Canadian Brother Sir Knights.  I do wish to thank all the Sir Knights who came out in support of the American / Polish Festival Mass. We did have a nice turn out with our Assembly providing three of the eleven Sir Knights that signed in.

A special mention and salute goes out to the Sir Knights in Regalia and the Sir Knights and Knights (members of Invictus Christus) who came out to provide security or were part of the program of the 2.5 Mile “Christ in the Streets” Procession from the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica to St. Mary’s of through the heart of Royal Oak. With 300 men in tow and clergy with the Monstrance containing the Body of Christ we had three from our Assembly in Colors ( a total of twelve signed in) and at least two from the Council marching along with several Squires from SS. Cyril and Methodius participating.  Bravo for your endurance for this special day.  I admit that I had sore feet for several days.

Upcoming Assignments:

Aug 15th Monday 7:00 PM Feast of the Assumption @ Assumption of BVM Parish / Assumption Grotto (13778 Gratiot Ave Detroit MI 48205 Gratiot at 6 Mile Rd.)   Warning:  This is a Mob Mass, it is recommended to come in early.

Aug 28th Sunday 11:00 AM St Ephrem Council # 12102 Corporate Communion @ St Ephrem Parish (38900 Dodge Park Sterling Heights – 17 Mile Rd & Dodge Park)

One more note: I have information sheet, a Call Sheet, for the members of the BVM Color Corps.  At the meetings  I would like all of the Color Corps members come up after the meeting so that they can look over this Call Sheet.  We need to find out who wants to be on it, which members need to be removed (due to disability, disinterest or availability), and to make any corrections to it.  Your cooperation would be greatly appreciated, it is essential to have a good, active Color Corps.

Please mark your calendars for these upcoming assignments. Important: All the times are actual event start times, Please be there at least ½ hour before event start or at the time that is specified in the assignment

Please check out the 4th Degree Blessed Virgin Mary Assembly web site (http://www.bvm1839.org) or the 4th degree link at St Nicholas Council web site (http://kofc7011sterlinghgts.org/) and attend the meetings to keep up with the latest requests. From the Navigator

Sir Knights,

August is here with our summer weather and I hope you are enjoying it. August and September will be busy months for the Assembly. The Officer Installation is scheduled for Thursday, August 18, 2016. Bishop Gallagher Assembly 0482 will host the installation at Fr. Lynch K of C hall in Clawson, located on Main St (Livernois), south of Maple (15 mile rd.). There will be a social hour around 6 PM and dinner will be served at 6:30pm. The installation of officers will follow dinner. I will need a head count by the first week of August of those planning to attend. The business meeting for the Assembly will be August 11 at 7:30 pm due to the officer installation on our regular meeting night.

The Assembly Picnic is Friday August 5 at Raintree Park in Troy from 5pm – 10pm. BVM will provide the meat and liquid refreshments. Please bring a dish to share.

Fast approaching is our Flag Retirement ceremony at Ss. Cyril & Methodius on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 7 pm. We expect a large turnout for this event. Your participation and help is needed for the setting up of the parking lot prior to the event and the clean up afterward. I am hoping that with your help, this will be the best Flag Retirement Ceremony to date.

Also, the fall exemplification will be held Sept. 17, 2016, if you know of any 3rd degree knight that would like to join our assembly as a 4th degree Sir Knight, I will need his application by the August 11, 2014 business meeting. We have received two applications for membership at this time. Also keep in your prayers all our Sir Knights and Ladies who are ill.

Faithful Navigator

Her name is Jolie Renee Sobolic. Jolie Renee has past her 20 week milestone! It may not seem like much, but it is a miracle for us.We haven't been given much hope by the doctors from the last ultrasound results. It's painful to think we very well may lose her before we get the chance to hear her cry. For now I feel her kicks (which we are still waiting for daddy to catch one) and her cravings for munchies and candy. Oh and this beautiful bump. Embracing what we have.

Pray for all our friends, extended family members, and for all the men and women serving in our Armed Forces; that they may return to their families unharmed.

The Faithfully Departed

Please pray for all our members, ladies and friends of our Assembly, who have once walked among us, but are no longer among us,

Especially Audrey Lemon, mother-in- law of SK Bob Pawlik.

May she rest in peace..and for all the born and unborn, may they all rest in peace.
